Florida Fishing Report

I know this isn't much, but for anyone heading down to Florida, get ready for some amazing fishing. Every time I go down there I cannot get over how much more clear the water is compared to the water in Charleston. The fish have nowhere to hide! Redfish are biting on the gulf coast right now. Pitching shrimp under docks is a sure bet. Make sure to use some fluorocarbon leader, with water that clear, the fish are going to be a bit picky. Snook and Jack Crevalle were all over the docks on the East Coast. The Jacks were willing to hit nearly anything you threw at them. I had good luck with red tailed white bass assassin paddle tail grubs rigged on a flutter hook. The snook were much more picky. Finding them at night seemed to work better. I think live shrimp would have worked well. Barracuda were all over in large schools and I even saw a couple manatees swim right under the dock I was standing on. I know that there is much more going on in Florida fishing right now, but if you are stuck without a boat, try the docks!

Good luck,
